From The Jetsons’ Rosie the Robot to today's rapidly evolving artificial intelligence platforms, what once seemed like science fic- tion is quickly becoming reality. Older adult communities are beginning to demonstrate that robotics and AI are not simply futuristic novelties – they are prac- tical operational tools that can improve efficiency, increase resi- dent engagement, and help address one of older adult care’s greatest challenges: social isolation. While widespread adop- tion is still in its early stages, two Colorado com- munities offer a glimpse into what the future may look like. Case Study 1: Dining robots at CLC’s Holly Creek campus At Christian Living Communities Holly Creek campus in Centennial, three autonomous dining robots – affectionately named Rose, Dorothy and Blanche – have become part of everyday life in the dining room. Rather than serving residents directly, the robots shuttle meals between the kitchen and dining room servers. Human staff continue to greet residents, place meals in front of them, answer questions, and provide the personal interac- tion that defines hospitality. That distinction is intentional. According to Tom Ingalls, director of dining for Morrison Living’s Duet Dining program, the robots were never intended to replace staff. Instead, they eliminate the constant back-and-forth trips between the kitchen and dining room, allowing servers to spend more time inter- acting with residents. On a typical Jami S.
